Delčevo is a small town in the eastern mountainous part of North Macedonia. It is the municipal seat of the eponymous municipality.
The city lies at an altitude of 590m (1.940ft) to 640m (2.100ft). Despite being located in the easternmost part of the country, Delčevo has a relatively good geographical position and traffic connection. It is a crossroads for eastern Macedonia.
The climate in Delčevo is continental Eastern European. The average annual temperature in Delchevo is 11°C (52°F), with an absolute minimum of -26°C (-15°F) and an absolute maximum of 39°C (102°F), while in higher areas the average annual temperature drops to 3.5°C (38°F). The warmest month is August, and the coldest is January. Spring is always colder than autumn.
The local museum of the city of Delchevo “Pijanec” preserves the historical, archaeological, ethnological heritage of Pijanec, due to the fact that on the territory of the Municipality of Delchevo, ie in the village. Stammer, the massive paleontological tomb of Pikermin fauna has been discovered, this local Museum has an obligation to promote and care for the natural heritage of the region.
The archeological part of the Museum contains objects from the Neolithic (5,000 BC) until the late Middle Ages (14th century AD) and is the result of two years of research conducted in 2000-2001 on the territory of Pijanec. The collection includes items made of ceramics, stone, metal and glass. The items are of different types and have different purposes. There are items for everyday use (dishes, tools and tools), items with religious-ritual function, decorative items, items for commodity-money exchange.
The living cultural heritage, the custom under the guise of Surova, in the village of Zvegor is held on Vasilica Day, ie on January 14. Unique in many ways, this local centuries-old custom is also called by ethnologists from Pijanec Vevcani. The traditional masks of the Surovascars symbolize a wedding procession with obligatory characters of the bride and groom, whites, pop, old grandmothers and the like.
